I love hand-stitching!! Here's a little tut' on how to finish the wrong side of a collar, especially with heavy fabrics like linen. I used a particularly soft sergé ribbon the same colour as the fabric for a nice finish.

Once the collar is machine sewn on the right side of the dress or coat, add the ribbon with small hand stitches. Start at the top, along the machine sewing.

Then, do the same at the bottom, with the same small hand stitches.

Tada! The collar is on, and the stitches are invisible at the front!

Pull the collar down in place; and then, if you like the looks of linen, take a few close pics to enjoy your hard work!
